The Ninth Ward
Producer, Cinematographer, Editor - G. Craig Hobbs

The Ninth Ward is a short documentary film focusing on the history, culture, and current plight of the Mardi Gras Indians. The documentary explores the Mardi Gras Indian culture through cinéma vérité interviews and live action cinematography. The film is set in the Lower Ninth Ward to bear witness not only the destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina, but also to illuminate the failed efforts by FEMA to rebuild this once great urban diaspora. Vast regions of housing sit in ruins, suburban strip malls remained gutted, broken stop lights at major intersections, acres of FEMA trailers and a sea of white contractor trucks fill the city.
